They're infused with air-and a signature "milk and honey" scent that's reminiscent of a freshly dried pedicure-to be light as a feather, making them a no-brainer to throw in your beach bag or carry-on. “I wanted something really casual, comfortable and easy to produce,” Gurt tells PureWow.Īnd she clearly put her expertise to good use each pair of Freedom Moses slides has a cross-hatched insole that keeps your feet from sliding around when wet (or, let’s be honest, sweaty). But after years of designing gorgeous (and toe-pinching) heels, she wanted to create a totally different footwear experience. Prior to starting her footwear brand, she designed shoes for Chinese Laundry, Oscar de la Renta and Thierry Mugler. “I’m inspired by ’60s nostalgia and laidback vibes, always, which is very Tel Aviv,” says Israel-based Sarah Gurt, the founder and designer of Freedom Moses. I returned to the Freedom Moses website like a kid in a candy store, eyes wide and a little bit greedy, mentally noting the pink glitter style or moody tie-dye print as my next potential purchase. They go with absolutely everything, from wide-leg jeans to bike shorts and sundresses. The waterproof plastic design was made for beach days and pool hangs, but I also love throwing them on to run errands, walk the dog or mosey uptown for some tacos and margs. Obviously, I had to have a pair, so in the shopping cart they went.Īfter reading up on the brand, I knew I made the right decision. Easy and effortless with a no-frills design, they were something I imagined Meghan Markle throwing on to feed the chickens or stroll around the outskirts of her Santa Barbara home (talk about goals). It was a no-nonsense neutral option aptly named “Sands.” Nothing flashy, trendy or over-the-top about it, but as I clicked through the photos one word came to mind: cool. They fit perfectly length wise and are plenty roomy width wise.I first spotted the shoe while scrolling through Shopbop’s sale page. I am a “true 7” and ended up with the 37/38. I think they fit true to size, but if you’re in between sizes, I’d size down especially if you have a narrow foot. I’m including a bunch of places because as I’ve mentioned it can be hard to track down your size in the exact color you want.
If you’ve been looking for a summer shoe that’s extra comfortable, get these. I am keeping the silver and returned the others.
I thought the pink was going to be the winner, but I ended up loving the silver so much more. I ordered a few different colors so I could decide what I liked the best. They are definitely super popular right now so it can be hard to find your size in your preferred color. I bought them for comfort and honestly didn’t think I’d love how they looked… but I totally do. Ashley posted about these slides– that she called “Birkencrocs” and let me tell you, I was SOLD. Just something super casual and comfy that could easily be hosed off. I was on the hunt for a pair of waterproof shoes I could wear up at the lake this week, but also to have for our backyard. (In fact, my right foot had been so swollen for three years while I dealt with a sesamoid issue and it’s 100% back to it’s normal size… I will never take that big toe for granted again!) Sneakers to work out in and walk the dogs, my UGGs back when it was still freezing/snowing in March, and then now my Jack Rogers. I haven’t really worn shoes all that much since March.
